ASRADA engages in fundraising events and activities to ensure that its support
of excellence in training in the dramatic arts is sustainable for the future.
It is always a pleasure for the ASRADA President and Officers to meet
donors and supporters of our work at these events.

PAST EVENTS

• Stephen Sondheim Honorary Fellowship Presentation

November 2019 ASRADA helped organize a presentation event at the
British Residency  in New York hosted by Her Majesty’s Consul General,
Antony Phillipson. On this special evening, RADA presented an Honorary
Fellowship to Stephen Sondheim followed by speeches from the Consul
General, from the Director of RADA, Edward Kemp, and of course
Stephen Sondheim himself.  There was a performance directed by RADA’s
head singing teacher Jane Streeton, performed by recent American RADA
graduates Jamie Bogyo and Jenna Augen, accompanied by Larry Yurman.
A drinks reception followed after.  The guests in attendance were new and
old supporters of RADA, and RADA alumni:  Peter Francis James (President
of ASRADA),  Tara Hugo (Trustee and Founder of ASRADA), Mary Monroe
(First President and Founder of ASRADA), Jarlath Conroy, Steven Crossley,
Natasha Crowley, Stella Kammel, Imani Jade Powers, Ben Gotlieb, Marilynn
Scott Murphy, Tom Rhoads, Jude Calder and Richard Alexander, Mary Mallen
and Alex Robbins, Noble Shropshire and Christina McKenna, Michael Benz
and Chris Benz.

• London Drama Schools Present Their Grads in New York 

November 2019 on Theatre Row in New York, the Royal Academy of Dramatic
Art, the Lir Dublin and Guildhall School of Music and Drama presented a
showcase of their recent graduates.  Natasha Cowley and Jamie Bogyo represented RADA.

• Seminar Theatre Visit

In November 2011 ASRADA hosted a fundraising event at the John Golden Theater
in New York around RADA graduate Alan Rickman’s performance in Seminar.
This dark comedy saw Alan Rickman cast as Leonard, a legendary author who provides private instruction to four promising writers. The evening included a
post-show cocktail party reception with Alan Rickman at Angus McIndoe
Restaurant.

• Manhattan Lunch & John Gabriel Borkman

In January 2011 award-winning theatrical, television and film producer
Francine LeFrak and husband Rick Friedberg hosted a special lunch at home
with ASRADA supporters and distinguished alumni of RADA including Ralph
Fiennes and Erika Slezak. Guests then travelled to Brooklyn Academy of Music
to enjoy the performance of Alan Rickman in Ibsen’s John Gabriel Borkman
followed by a post-show reception at which ASRADA guests along with cast
members and Alan Rickman were joined by fellow thespians Hugh Jackman
and Daniel Radcliffe.

• Annual ARN (Americas RADA Network) and RADA Get Together

Each year RADA travels to New York to conduct the first round of auditions for
its flagship 3-year BA Hons Acting Degree. The visit presents an opportunity for Edward Kemp, Director of RADA and the Americas RADA Network, (a network
of North American alumni who graduated from RADA’s full acting and technical programs) to get together for a casual reunion in New York. Past events have
taken place at the Players Club at Gramercy Park, Café Un Deux Trois, and
Angus McIndoe Restaurant.
